Kim
Mearig 2002
As a teenage Kim developed a smooth, graceful style
surfing Rincon Point, and was riding for Al Merrick's
Channel Islands label at age 14. The quintessential
California surf girl, Kim rose through the NSSA ranks
then turned professional. In 1983 she took the world
by storm, winning the OP Pro in Huntington Beach, dominating
the year to become the ASP Women's World Champion. She
spent the next eight years in the ASP top eight before
retiring to her home in Santa Barbara.
