On Thursday July 23rd, 2009 the 16th Annual Surfing Walk Of Fame Ceremony occurred in front of Jack’s Surfboards in Downtown Huntington Beach on Main Street at Pacific Coast Highway. Former Huntington Beach Mayor Don MacAllister and Local Surf Legend PT “Peter Townend” were the Mc’s of this event which had hundreds of spectators watching as The OC Register Honored Surfers Of The Year which were: Joe Aaron, Courtney Conlogue, Andrew Doheny and Brett Simpson.

Inducted into the Walk of Fame were: Jackie Baxter (Local Hero), Duke Boyd (Surf Culture), Mark Martinson (Surfing Champion), Wendy Botha (Woman Of The Year), Hawaii Senator Fred Hemmings (Surf Pioneer) .

On hand applauding the honorees were Huntington Beach Mayor Keith Bohr, Huntington Beach City Council Members Joe Carchio and Gil Coerper, Huntington Beach City Manager Fred Wilson, Huntington Beach Economic Development Director Stanley Smalewitz, Former Huntington Beach Mayor Ralph Bauer, Huntington Beach International Surfing Museum Founder Natalie Kotsch, Chris Farmer (Who Played with The Beach Boys), Chris MacDonald a community participant, Greg Furlong Award Winning Cameraman, Matt Liffreing from HBTV 3, Ron Grunzweig who is a member of The Seal Beach Chamber Of Commerce and many more.

Thanks to The Walk Of Fame Members For doing this yearly event. They Are: Don MacAllister, Mike Adams, Gary Sahagen, Bob Pace, Ron Abdelfattah (Owner Of Jacks’ Surfboards), Lewis Harrison, Gary Pitts, Dave Dominguez, Sharon Marshall, Chuck Linnen, John VanOffellen, Peter Townend And Eric Charlonne.

Sponsors included Nixon, Dukes Huntington Beach, HB International Surfing Museum, OC Register, and Jacks Surfboards.

If you haven’t seen the Surfing Walk Of Fame, There’s An Exhibit at The Huntington Beach International Surfing Museum on it. You can also look at the walk. Just walk on main street towards the beach on the right hand side and you’ll see the stars. You can now become a member of the Surfing Walk Of Fame.
