Paul
Morrow 2005
NSSA Junior Founder
The Walk of Fame honored Paul Morrow, longtime administrator
and principal of Sowers middle school in Huntington
Beach, but also the founder of the National Scholastic
Surfing Association’s (NSSA) award-winning “junior”
competition program. “Paul has had a tremendous
impact on the youth of our community,” said Peter
Townend, Walk of Fame board member and former world
champion (1976). “His concept of a junior
division for competition surfing ultimately led to the
adoption of a worldwide circuit.” Created
in 1995, the honor roll pays tribute to those individuals
who have contributed to surfing and its culture and
are deserving of recognition.
